POETRY TOUPIN BLUE MORNING JAMES TOUPIN 1 A man who has never built anything walks the unpeopled city. The ambient azure makes its way by indirection between the dark and morning. Blue clings to the office front that, empty, overlooks the hollow pit. Its sides propped up, the pit is readied for the base of what ambition, in steel and glass, will raise against the circling sky. 2 A man paid for his part in building sits with a styrofoam cup in the cold. This is the moment when what he has and what he does do not define him. Now he is solitude that waits to receive what will come of the light. ARDOR | 74
