POETRY KRISAK FEATURED POETRY BOUND LEN KRISAK Gilding the train car walls with its declension, Another of those gliding autumn suns Begins to go, so slow its slanted rays Seem counter-tokens of that bright suspension The poet says can't last. Gold never stays? Perhaps. But notice, as the trolley runs For Riverside, that young man with his nose Inside a book whose cover—Learn Inglès!— Suggests an author's eye that gleamed with wit Once. Follow, as an index finger flows Across the page to con some strange new phrase. Who knows what he may someday make of it? See how his brow will knit and then un-knit? New to the Green Line and its rattling ways, He has to find his place at every jolt. But with intensity that will not quit, He perseveres like some insistent colt.
