LANGUOR "...the Vegas Room where Lounge acts wasted our precious time" --Joshua Clover Poetry by PETER MCNAMARA Nothing's getting done here and it's not getting done languidly-- sailboats rock in the lee of Little St. Mary's like slowing carousel horses palms front a distant breakwater like an ancient temple portico that sly reverb of wash like wombats gnawing at the eardrum-- counterpoint dateless, remorseless light from unrepentant stars. Shallows' drift turns on the tide-- but, what's that?--thunder or a bass percussive beneath assertive rap? Sails hang limp sheets out to dry; the distant palms, exiled without appeal, seem resigned to their fate; layered sky-- narrow-gauge cloud-rills--spills a meditative vista, languor woven to paradox: the oppressiveness of unhurried time. *We recommend reading this poem with formatting.
