*Featured Poetry* MOUNTAIN TARN: AUTUMN Poetry by PETER MCNAMARA Wicked still: damp cool like breath from long-sunk life. Across parti-colored clouds slant light attenuates-- prophet without vision-- mist rising like thought drowned, unacknowledged to be denied. Evergreens etch recollection in shallows groping toward no one to witness. Templates of bleared green: maples, skeletal pines phantom echoes from upturned sculls withered leaves in pond skim's stir and pulse of gnats rising/falling untoll hours. Shock cold fathoms deep infiltrates to where truth-- still resonant--secretes itself. Lone birdcall through the birches' spirit-barques the languid lap of leaves on shingle deer's jetes down meadows--bolting, then frozen nosing silence-- fret grace notes against congealing dusk. *We recommend reading this poem with formatting.
